Working with East West Players was an incredibly fulfilling and educative process. While there, I was able to work closely with and learn from carpenters, electricians, and scenic designers, all deeply passionate and skilled in their efforts. For this stage, we had constructed the large hanging curved wall that we would eventually come to paint a skyline onto for the show. In addition we built raised, curved platforms for the actors to stand on, stretching from upstage right to downstage left, covering a line across the stage. We also constructed a rotating wooden platform with a sloped, half-wall to be used in versatile ways, from a bar top to a child’s bedroom. Intersatate was an incredible production, in no small part to the efforts put forward by the cast and crew! It was a pleasure working with them and look forward to doing more with the company in the future.
